Tips for Breastfeeding in Public.

Tips for Breastfeeding in Public.

Should a mommy stay home all the time fearing breastfeeding in public? No, you have many ways to enjoy yourself even during the days of breastfeeding. You don’t have to confine yourself to home those days.

I agree most of the mommies are not comfortable nursing their babies in public areas as too many eyes keep watching them. But you can’t put your baby aside for this reason.

I suggest the below tips to make breastfeeding easier for you in public.

  1. Nurse in advance.

Mommies might know how frequently their babies would ask for breastfeed. For example, my son used to ask for feed every 3 hours when he was 3 months old. I used to breastfeed him before going out and come back by the next feed time. This helped me most of the times.

  1. Ask for Nursing room.

These days many places are providing with Nursing rooms where mommies can comfortably breastfeed their babies. So, wherever you go you better ask if that place has got a nursing room or any other room of that kind. If you don’t find anything as such you need to find a place where there is less crowd to feed your baby.

  1. Carry a covering cloth.

Always remember to carry a covering cloth (shawl/ dupatta) when going out with your baby. You don’t know when and where you need it. Choose that cloth where your baby is more comfortable when he/she is covered up.

  1. Nursing Bras.

As long as you are breastfeeding it is better to prefer nursing bras. It is more comfortable for mommies while breastfeeding as they give easy and ready access to breasts for babies to latch on. There are a good number of varieties available in the market these days.

  1. Nursing Dress.

Particularly while going out, you better wear a nursing dress which makes breastfeeding easier. A lot of varieties have come up in nursing wear. The ones with buttons, zips and many more. Otherwise you can wear a T-shirt and a pant and cover up with a dupatta while breastfeeding.
